F1 News: New F1 anchor man for Brit TV

Monday, October 17, 2005 - 10:30 AM

The front man for Britain's live F1 television coverage, Jim Rosenthal, presented his final ever grand prix in Shanghai.

For 2006, the Englishman will be replaced by countryman Steve Rider, formerly of the BBC.

55-year-old Steve Rider is the current host of 'Grandstand'. He switches back to ITV after 20 years at BBC, where he twice was named 'Sports Presenter of the Year'.

He has also hosted the Olympics, and started out as a junior sports reporter for a local South East London paper.

Ironically, although 300kph grand prix racing will be his latest pursuit, Rider does not have a driver's license after six 2004 speeding offences.
